Who was Achilles?

Achilles

According to Greek mythology fates, the
Goddess who controlled people’s
destiny, once told  Thetis, a Greek woman, that
her baby would die young.Thetis to
call child to the river styx and gave a bath in the
magical water to keep himself from
wounds.She  had her son by his heel and dipped
him in the water. The heel remained
dry but the rest of the body became very strong.

The child,Achilles grew up to become
the bravest landsomest and swiftest of the Army
of agamemnon.He faught in the famous
Trojan Wars. During one of the invasions,
Achilles captured a girl named Briseis.

       When he was taken away from him by the
leader  agamemnon,Achilles refused to
fight anymore for agamemnon. it was difficult to  
fight a troy without Achilles.

Achilles agreed to lend his chariot and armour to his friend Patroclus  to lead the Greek Army.
Petroclus was killed by the Trojan Warrior Hector and Achilles decided to seek revenge.
He  killed Hector and dragged his body round the Tomb of Patroclus.Hector’s mother
Paris shoot a poisoned arrow at Achilles and killed him.
  
Arrow that killed Achilles  had struck him at his heel, the part which was not dipped in
the water of the styx   river and remained weak. this story lead to the use of proverb
‘ Heels of Achilles ‘.When someone has weak spot  somewhere, either in the personality
 or the body is called his Achilles heel.
