What is Unicorn of England?

Unicorn

Unicorn is a legendary creature which probably never existed, but years ago people did
believein its existence.On the royal coat of arms of Britain,there are two creators on either side of
the shield- a lion on one side and the Unicorn on the other.

Unicorn is a strange horse like creature with a long elegant horn on its forehead.
Queen Elizabeth the first was supposed  to have unicorn’s horn which was not only worth
huge sum of money at was also supposed to have healing powers and could protect people
from poison.There are special rules and methods laid down about capturing a unicorn.A young
girl was effective bait. The Unicorn would lay  its head in her laps and the Hunters would quietly
creep closer to the capture the Unicorn.

When Scotland and England were to be united under King James The first, England's
heraldic beasts were a lion and a dragon,While Scotland's were two unicorns.According to the
legend

lion and Unicorn were deadly enemies .The best way to stop them from killing each other was to place them on either side of the shield in the coat of arms.Thus  the lion and the Unicorn found

the place of honour on each side of the British royal coat of arms.
